Lady Bear bowlers celebrate seniors

On Jan. 28 the River View Lady Bears bowling team hosted Tuscarawas Central Catholic at Legacy Lanes for senior night.

The Lady Bears clawed their way to a 2230-2216 victory to go to 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. Leading the way for the Lady Bears was freshman Maeve Gentile with games of 211 (PR) and 141 for a 352 two game set. Senior Benni Winland with games of 164, and 167 for a 331 two game set and junior Emma Ward with games of 127 and 184 for a 311 two game set. Saylor Starkey also had a 298 (PR) two game set.

The JV Lady Bears were also in action as they rolled over visiting TCC JV 1157-903. Leading the way for the Lady Bears JV was freshman Rebecca Durben with games of 176 (PR) and 161 for a 337 (PR) two game set, junior Sara Chilcote with games of 160 (PR) and 152 for a 312 (PR) and junior Vivian Heddleson with games of 142 and 105 for a 247 two game set.

On Jan. 29 the River View Lady Bears bowling team travelled to Wabash Lanes for the Tuscarawas Central Catholic Bakers Classic. The Lady Bears came together as a team and bowled well, and after 16 games of qualifying they were the number one seed in the stepladder final. In the finals the Lady Bears fell to Claymont to finish second. Bowling Bakers for Lady Bears was the lineup of leadoff, senior Benni Winland, second sophomore Jonni Winland, senior Tavia Cooper, junior Sara Chilcote and freshman Rebecca Durben, bowling third, junior Saylor Starkey, fourth, junior Emma Ward and anchor freshman Maeve Gentile

The Lady Bears will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 16 at Boulevard Lanes for the sectional competition.
