Larry L. Sherrets

COOPERDALE – Larry Lee Sherrets, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born July 9, 1938 in Stone Creek to the late Martin and Bernice (Swinderman) Sherrets. He was a 1956 graduate Stone Creek High School, and he served in the US Army Reserves.

Larry was a long-time stone mason and woodworker. He volunteered in the Warsaw area for many years through the Sheriff’s Department, Fire Department, and EMS. He was a Freemason, and a member of the Newark Woodcarver’s Club. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, dad, & “Poppy” who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia (Harding) Sherrets of Cooperdale, whom he married Aug. 24, 1958; three children, Kenneth Sherrets (Beth Hampp) of Zanesville, Kay Shields of Inman, SC, and Connie (James) White of Baltimore; six grandsons, Jason (Jamie) Beatty of Warsaw, Kevin (Lindsay) Sherrets of Cranberry, PA, Justin Shields (Lecretia Holbert) of Inman, SC, Joshua (Heather) Shields of Inman, SC, Nathan (Danay) White of Baltimore, and Kyle (Rachel) Sherrets of Dublin; nine great-grandchildren, Micah White, Luke Beatty, Jaxson Shields, Sloane Sherrets, Noah Shields, Quinn Sherrets, Aaron Shields, Jayce Shields, and Lacie White; and a brother, Donald (Barbara) Sherrets of New Philadelphia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jerry Shields; and his canine companion, “Missy”.
