Larry R. King, 84, of Coshocton, died Tuesday evening, December 31, 2024, at Altercare Coshocton.

Born June 9, 1940, on the family farm in Adam’s Mills, he was the son of the late Lawrence “Buck” and Geneva (Balo) King and a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School. Even from a young age, Larry established himself as hard working, dedicated man. He began working at an early age for Cox and Ross farms.  Larry worked road construction for a short time before becoming employed as a maintenance man at General Electric where he retired after 38 years of service.  Throughout his working career, he farmed his family farmland as third generation until his health declined in the summer of 2024.

When Larry wasn’t working you could find him at the racetrack in his “King Size Toy”.  In addition to his drag car, he owned many corvettes throughout his life and was a member of Coshocton Corvette Club.  In 1961 he was the NHRA Drag Racing Champion in his class and his love for cars and racing never waned.  After retirement, Larry and Judy found themselves traveling and enjoying the company of friends while they journeyed to Florida for the winters, and adventures to Alaska and Hawaii. Throughout his retirement, Larry combined his joy of working and farming by refurbishing and restoring tractors and equipment.

Larry was known as a special friend to many; he called on friends across generations connecting with many through his farming and racing. He brought immerse joy to his family and friends through his kind heart and fun-loving spirit.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Judy (Rice) King, whom he married on September 20, 1964; a daughter, Molly (Shawn) Bordenkircher; two sisters, Elaine (Kenny) Birkhimer and Karen Henry; two grandchildren, Emily Alexander and Ben Bordenkircher; and one great grandchild, Kingston Alexander.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a daughter Jennifer King, and a brother-in-law, Carl Rice.

Family and friends may call 1:00-3:00pm, Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Monday, January 6, 2025, at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Chapin officiating.
