Larry Ronald “The Farmer” Cochran
Larry Ronald “The Farmer” Cochran, 80, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2024 at his residence.
He was born July 19, 1943 in Port Washington to the late Melvin Ward and Laura Marie (Ours) Cochran. He was a graduate of Port Washington High School.
Larry married Carolyn Arden in 1976, who preceded him in death in 2007. He then married Donna Glover in 2017, who also preceded him in death in 2020.
The youngest of seven children, Larry was a farmer, getting his nickname by running to a dirt track in milking boots, bib overalls, and jumping into a stock car. Racing was his passion. Winning and being “King of the Hill” at many dirt tracks, including Coshocton Speedway.
He worked for Peabody in Arizona, later moving back to Ohio to drive for Kenny Adams until his retirement.
He is survived by a daughter, Dawn Hammersley of Coshocton; three grandsons, Dustin (Lennel) Cochran, Drew (Tara) Cochran, and Coty (Beth) Cochran; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives, Larry was preceded in death by his siblings, Freda DeLong, Alden Cochran, Norma Combest, Avery Cochran, Phyllis Edwards, and Leo Cochran.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation is one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
