WEST LAFAYETTE – Keith Leindecker signed to play football at Walsh University on Wednesday, May 24 in a classroom at Ridgewood High School. He will be playing on the defensive line and specialty teams, which is what he played during his years at Ridgewood.

“I can hardly believe it,” said Kristy Leindecker, Keith’s mom. “It’s like a whirlwind. You prepare and you pray that you’ve given him the tools that he needs, and you let him go.”

Coach John Slusser said that Walsh is gaining a great kid.

“They’re getting a kid who plays extra hard,” said Slusser. “He’s a very loyal, hardworking, great character kid. Keith is a really hard worker and gives us a good effort. He was one of the best players I have coached here in 25 years.”

Keith said that he’s made a lot of memories in football at Ridgewood but will never forget, “Running out to ‘The Champ’ this year and doing the sway with the whole town going crazy.”

Kristy said that she will miss being able to watch Keith play for Ridgewood, whether it was football or other sports that he played during his high school career.

“It was always easy for me to find him because he’s so tall,” she said. “I can always find Keith. I love watching him play, whatever sport he plays, I love watching him play.”
Keith’s dad Brian has some advice for his son when he begins college.

“He’s a good level-headed kid and as long as he stays that way, things will work out great for him.”
