Lester “Jim” Kobel
Lester “Jim” Kobel, 78, of West Lafayette, OH passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Oak Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Baltic. He was born in Coshocton, OH on January 27, 1947 to the late Harvey and Mariam (Olinger) Kobel.
Jim graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1965, served in the United States Army Reserves from 1965-1971, and begin working at General Electric in 1965 before retiring in 2001. Jim grew up attending church at Chili Crossroads Bible Church and was a former longtime member of West Lafayette First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Lions club since 1993 and was very active in the community. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including, woodworking, painting, drawing, golf, fishing, hunting, shooting guns at the range, card club with friends, and going to the beach. He also was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being their biggest fan.
Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cathy (McDaniel) Kobel; son Bryan (Machiel) Carroll of West Lafayette; brother Tom (Vicki) Kobel; grandchildren Blake Carroll, Kayla Kobel, Chase (Katlyn) Carroll, Andrew (Erinn) Getchey, Morgan (Devin) Carroll, and Dylan Bryant; four great granddaughters; three great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son Jason Kobel; brothers Don and Robert Kobel; and sister Betty Levengood.
Calling hours will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main Street, Coshocton, OH 43812 on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 11:00am – 1:00pm with funeral service beginning at 1:00pm with Pastor David Kraft officiating with a cremation to follow and burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date at Fairfield Cemetery.
