Lewis Raymond St. Clair
Lewis Raymond St. Clair passed away in the loving presence of his family in his home on April 6, 2020.
He was born on April 2, 1929 in New Concord, Ohio, to Silas and Cora (Marshall) St. Clair. Lewis was involved with farming his entire life. He bought his farm near Claysville in 1953 and continued to farm for 66 years. He served three years in the United States Army in South Korea and Japan. He was a lifetime member of the New Concord Westminster Presbyterian church where he served on the session and did repairs to the church. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization. Lewis enjoyed traveling, square dancing, visiting with family and friends and old classmates from Pike and New Concord schools.
He is survived by his wife Thelma (Grewell) St. Clair, his son Mark (Julie) St. Clair, his daughters, Nancy (David) Spillman, Karen (Rich) Ripley, his sister, Ruth Macklin, and his brother, Charles (Dorothy) St. Clair; as well as seven grandchildren including, Mark (Stephanie) Spillman, Ranae (Samuel) Cunningham, Valerie (Brent) Frasher, Michelle (Mark) Fehr, Kevin (Jessica) Shipe, Jessica (Matthew) Pyle and Jenna (Jake) Johnston. He will be deeply missed by his great-grandchildren, Grace, Colton and Olivia Shipe, Lincoln and Emmilyn Frasher, Shad, Ella and Paul Cunningham, Lexi and Khloe Fehr and Carter Spillman, his stepson Brian (Christa) Lewis, stepdaughters, Barbara (Stan) Popelar and Betty Lewis, and 10 step-grandchildren and 12great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, wife Glenna, two infant brothers, William and Paul, brother Ralph, sister-in-law Helen, brothers-in-law David Macklin and Emil Haney.
Friends and family are invited to attend Lewis’s graveside service that will be held at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 1 p.m. Rev. Bryan Kittner will officiate services. The family offers a very special thanks to the Hospice of Coshocton, and Lewis’s stepgranddaughter, Amanda Bissett, for her loving care this last two months of his life.
