Library hosts craft night
Coshocton Public Library hosted Teens and Tweens time on Wednesday evening Feb. 15. The program is open to kids from third to 12th grade. This month they created heart wreathes on a wooden heart frame using a glue gun and a variety of materials from ribbon to shapes such as flower petals and stickers.
Youth Services Coordinator Laiken Bantum invited them to be creative, use whatever materials they wanted from the craft supply table and cut whatever shapes they wanted for their design.
“For our craft night in December we had snow globe night,” she said. “We try to have a craft night once a month. There is always a good turnout. We had 17 kids tonight. The number attending is always in the teens. Usually, the craft theme is related to a holiday, or it is related to the month. Sometimes winter things or something for spring. This is a whole bunch of fun. I get to be a kid again.”
Julie Grode brought her grandchildren, 8-year-old twins Jase and Addison. “We like to do things together at the library,” Julie said. “I come here to relax, and I bring them when I can. They have other things here for adults too and that’s nice.”
Sisters Lora and Rebecca Layton agreed that this is something fun they can go to. “Usually there are four of us, my two brothers stayed home tonight but we come here all the time. I’ve done this before. It’s fun,” Lora said.
Wendy Bowman attended with her sister and her great niece Phoenix and great nephew Remi. Phoenix said, she always comes to the library to make things. “Right now, I’m making a little human to glue on my heart,” Phoenix said.
Craft night is held in the large meeting room at the library from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for grades three to 12. Register at www.coshoctonlibrary.org.
