Lila B. Marshall
Lila B. Marshall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Born on February 22, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Christian E. and Iva (Borror) Babbert.
Lila is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, John K. Marshall. Their love story began with a blind date, and John knew almost instantly that she was the one. Together, they built a beautiful life anchored in love, faith, and family. A proud graduate of Columbus South High School (Class of 1955) and The Ohio State University (Class of 1959), Lila went on to live a life defined by service, kindness, and unwavering faith. She was a member of Darby Creek Church in Galloway, Ohio, where her strength and devotion were an inspiration to many.
Lila’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Karen Haring (Tim) and Linda Burlile (Greg). She was a proud grandmother to Jonathan Haring, Jessica Haring, Justin (Caity) Haring, Jacob (Maria) Haring, Jordan Haring, Joshua Burlile, Caleb (Abby) Burlile, and Megan (Sam) Miller. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Lila Grace Haring and Mason Rain Miller. Lila is also survived by brothers-in-law James Marshall and Harry Bruengger, along with many dear relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother Eugene E. Babbert and his wife Diane, and her sister Marilyn Bruengger.
Lila was known for her warm heart, generous spirit, and deep-rooted faith. She touched countless lives with her hospitality, always welcoming others with open arms—and often with a slice of her famous pie or a piece of her beloved cheesecake. Her legacy of love, strength, and service will continue to live on through the lives she shaped and the family she so deeply cherished.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Darby Creek Church, 1145 Amity Rd, Galloway, OH on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 10am officiated by Greg Burlile, Tim Haring, & Caleb Burlile. A private graveside service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Darby Creek Church (www.darbycreek.org/donate) or Libera, (www.liberawv.com) Morgantown, WV.
