Local Bounty Update

| November 5, 2015

Good Morning,

I hope everyone is out enjoying this wonderfully warm weather, what a treat.  We are gearing up for the cold, which is sure to come and it is never too early to start looking for great LOCAL made Christmas gifts.  We have got you covered, stop by and see us, Thursday and Friday 10-6, Sat. 9-1.

Classes/ Events:

We have something new to offer at the bounty…. A tasting!!

Sign up for a tasting on Nov. 12 @ 6:00pm to taste Hannah Adelsberger’s herbed artisan bread.  And checkout Hillbippie’s new handmade garlic grater.  Also we are introducing a new vendor, Direct Farm.  They have gourmet cheeses which we will sample.

Cost is $5.00, Sign up by phone, email or Facebook!

Vendor Updates:

Flying Pig Farm

We’ll have a few greens in the cooler this week! Swiss chard, kale and mustard. Kale is perfect this time of year for soups, and mustard is great steamed with onion and garlic. Greens are a great way to get your vitamins when other summer veggies are winding down. Don’t forget to order your non-GMO and gluten-free baked goods at www.Facebook.com/OhioFlyingPigFarm.

Hillbippie Clay Co.

I will have more garlic grater plates at the Bounty tomorrow, they will go in the kiln today!  Also will have some Soup-er mugs, great for soup or for the coffee lover that needs a large mug.  As always my ware is dishwasher, microwave, oven safe.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions, I’d love to talk to you!  Peace and Thank you.

Keene Creek Farm

We apologize for not being as active in the Local Bounty communications as we usually are. But, we appreciate your patience as we continue to cope with Marissa’s pregnancy condition on the homestead (recently set back by a bout with the stomach flu – not fair, right?) and we try to do our best to stock our freezer with the pork cuts you’ve come to love. In stock this week is our dry cured peppered bacon, mini loin roasts, lots of sausage, ham loaf and more. Our new sausage blend (salt, pepper, sage – marked with a green dot), was ordered especially for the upcoming holiday season. It would cook up nicely in your favorite sausage stuffing recipe. We also have old fashioned lard in the cooler. Substitute it for shortening in a pie crust recipe and the crust will flake like grandma’s did. Promise. Thanks as always for your support of our local food efforts.

Mullet Apiaries

You might see a stray honeybee or two on your mums or sedum these last few warm days, but they are not fooled by all this sunshine. The girls are sticking close to home, knowing cold weather will soon be upon us. Even though they soon will be taking a winter break from honey production, we still have plenty of honey and creamed honey on our shelves. We also have restocked the beeswax – it has been flying off the shelf – the crafters must be getting busy for the holidays! As always, thanks for your business!

Strawberry Hill Farm

We’ve been enjoying the unusually warm November weather this week! It gives us a chance to get some outdoor work done on the farm before cold weather really sets in. Our offerings at Local Bounty this week include: romaine lettuce, bags of sweet peppers, a bit of kale and cilantro, and a few dozen of our free range eggs from hens on pasture. All are in the cooler.

Young Farms

Young Farms has delivered a whole beef to the market! The freezer is full of ground beef, ground round, sirloin patties, rolled roasts, chuck roasts, sirloin steaks, ribeye steaks, t-bone and porterhouse steaks, filets, NY strips, soup bones, and liver. Stop in and pick up your favorites! Also, we now have spare ribs available.
