Local Bounty Update

Managers Message

Good morning local foodies 🙂

Wow! Three weeks in a row it’s been chilly out, but that’s ok with me because the asparagus is tender and sweet from the cool weather. Circle the sun Farm has plenty of asparagus for sale. Stop in to get your asparagus and a recipe.

Have a glorious week!

Best thoughts,
Kristie

Vendor Updates

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

Black bean brownies — the guilt-free, gluten-free, and almost sugar-free brownies:  I’ll be bringing some of these fast-disappearing brownies to Local Bounty on Tuesday.  Even Bob, the snack-meister eats them when he can get them.  Believe me, that’s quite an endorsement.

We will also have eggs at Local Bounty on Tuesday.

Thanks for your support.

Keene Creek Farm

Late last week we picked up smoked meats from the butcher shop. That’s right – bacon, Canadian bacon and ham loaf are all back in stock. We also have lots of brat options (mild Italian, smoked, and bratwurst seasoned) and butter/garlic marinated pork chops available for grilling, if they weather would just cooperate. Another couple of litters of piglets should arrive in June. We hope to sell some piglets out of the last group that farrowed to some local 4-H and/or FFA members to show at the county fair. How exciting would that be? Mairin, our seven year old, told us she’d like to show a hog in the open class at this year’s fair. So, we will see how that goes. She has her eye on the most adorable spotted gilt (girl) pig in the barn. We are so excited that summer is just around the corner – bring on the sunshine, no rushing out the door to school and lazy summer evenings.

Flying Pig Farm

This week we have a new pie and scone flavor. Our “Black ‘n Blue” pie has blackberries, black raspberries and blueberries. We also have cherry, blackberry and strawberry rhubarb pies. Our Choco-Banana scones have bananas, banana chips and mini chocolate chips. We also have cranberry scones. Don’t forget to try our Walter’s Bug Spray. It’s all natural, chemical free and repels mosquitoes, flies and ticks! We use it on us, our toddler, our animals, the barn walls and the ground around our fire pit. We also have fire starters to easily start your fires. Get out and enjoy the sunshine this week!
