Vendor Updates

Strawberry Hill Farm

The gardens are still going, even the sweet peppers. Hard to believe it’s November! This week at Local Bounty we have broccoli, salad mix (mixed lettuce), sweet peppers and kale, along with eggs from our hens on pasture. Last week we enjoyed a supper dish Mary threw together in a few minutes. It uses all ingredients you’ll find at Local Bounty. Here’s the recipe:

Potatoes, Kale and Eggs

2 large potatoes, cut in small cubes

1 small onion, chopped

3-4 large kale leaves (large stems removed), cut in strips

5 large eggs, beaten

Salt and pepper

In large skillet, saute potatoes in butter or olive oil. When potatoes are almost tender, add onions and kale strips and cover skillet to steam. Stir occasionally. After 3-5 minutes stir in beaten eggs and cook through. Season with salt and pepper. (You could also melt shredded cheese on top.) Serves 3-4 people.

Our Garden

Our Garden has been busy harvesting lots of cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, beets, collards, celery, and lettuce for Local Bounty.  We have gotten three frosts, but because of our farming practices it has not harmed the plants. It actually can improve their growth and flavor too!.  Our Garden’s  many varieties of mild to hot peppers are still available for roasting and stuffing with cheese. and wrapping in bacon or freezing for later. They will be in short supply soon.  I will restock items and bring any pre-orders Thursday evening.

New items from Our Garden are  mustard greens, horseradish, and kohlrabi both green and purple.

Hope you enjoy the wide selection of veggies and squash and thanks for supporting our family through Local Bounty.

Happy eating,

John, Bonnie, Johnathan, Kristen, Erin, Benjamin, and Ryan

As always thank you for your support!!
