Strawberry Hill Farm
Merry Christmas to everyone from the frosty farm! We have restocked our strawberry jam at the store (great for last-minute gifts and for Christmas thumbprint cookies) and Mary will be bringing more buttery shortbread today. We also stocked more pastured eggs. You’ll be glad to hear that our new flock of laying hens is beginning to lay, so we’ll soon be bringing in some pullet eggs as well! Have a warm and happy Christmas with family and friends!

Mullet Apiaries – We have gift packs available! Our beautiful glass Muth jars would make a lovely hostess gift for those holiday parties. Christmas is just a few days away. Shoppers rush to and fro searching for that perfect gift. Some of the greatest gifts are locally-made. We will have a fresh batch of fudge, chicken, and gift boxes of fudge at the local bounty this week.

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens
How do hens keep their feet warm in the winter? All birds have a unique heat exchange system in a very intricate network of veins and arteries in their feet. The warm blood traveling through their arteries warms up the cooler blood in their veins. That’s about as scientific as I get! It works for them. Also they often stand on one foot and tuck the other foot up into their downy underwear. There is really nothing warmer than a down coat. We are keeping busy making sure they are supplied with warm water to drink.
