Strawberry Hill Farm

New things are happening at the farm! Ron and Mary’s son Chris and his wife Erin arrived a week ago, moving from Indiana. They are finishing their house adjacent to the farm. And this week Erin and Mary are introducing new baked goods at Local Bounty—Oatmeal Bread, Honey Whole Wheat Bread, and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies. Both breads make delicious toast (try them with our strawberry jam!), and the cookies are hearty and chocolaty. Erin is also working on a sourdough bread that we will sell soon. Comfort food for winter!

Flying Pig Farm

Ready for the Super Bowl? Pick up some of our pastured chicken wings and one of the many selections of sauces available at the store. We also have grass fed ground beef and chili mixes. Try our 4 Bean Chili for a spicy kick or try Black Bean for a milder variation. Both are delicious!

Keene Creek Farm

We welcomed a new face to the farm this past week. Our Texas Longhorn cow had a heifer calf the girls named Elizabeth “Lizzie” Jane. She’s already kicking up her tail and running across the pasture as if it is spring. Speaking of spring, we are offering Easter hams through Local Bounty again this year. Orders must be placed by February 20though – you’ll have your choice of bone in or out, whole or half (whole is 18-20 pounds and halves are 9-10 lbs), $5.25/lb. The hams are cured and smoked the “old fashioned” way in a wood-fired smokehouse. They hang for 10 days to trap a rich, smoky flavor. We are butchering hogs this week and next. And, to help us clean out our freezer, we are offering $1.00 off all packs of meat in our freezer this week. We’d like to view this as a thank you to our customers too – we so appreciate the opportunity to help feed those around you.

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

The hens are doing well with longer hours of daylight.  It makes them think spring, even though the weather is still cold.  We will have plenty of eggs at Local Bounty for you this week.

Also, I will be bringing in black bean brownies; and some real cocoa brownies with none of the calories removed, just in case you are done with your New Year’s resolutions.  We will have small pies, too.  Maybe cherry.

Thanks for shopping at Local Bounty.

As always, thanks for your support!
