Special Thanksgiving Hours: Wednesday, Nov. 26

We will be open on Wednesday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for you to do your last-minute holiday feast shopping. If you have a favorite item you’d like to order from one of our vendors, please be sure to make that request this week. We will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and back open on our normal hours Friday and Saturday.

Ayurveda (Natural Beauty Care) Class: Dec. 14

Ayurveda is considered by many to be the oldest healing science. Join Crowtown Yoga’s Cindy Kostecki and Hillbippie’s Rachel Hall on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. for this workshop about natural beauty. Based on the principles of this ancient healing science, learn how to create your own natural beauty products at home. In this workshop Cindy and Rachel will make all natural alternatives to beauty products which are full of chemicals. Wrapped in festive eco-friendly packaging, you will leave with three beautiful and mindful gifts, just in time for the holidays! Cost to participate is $20. E-mail or call Local Bounty to register. Limited space and the class is more than half full already – so be sure to register early.

Pre-Ordered Turkeys

Turkey Hill Farm has delivered turkeys (whole and half) for everyone who pre-ordered them. The birds can be picked up as soon as we open at 10 this morning. We would appreciate you getting them sooner than later as they do take up a lot of freezer space. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Vendor Updates:

Eggs

We cannot apologize enough for not being able to keep up with local eggs in the store. A family from the Dresden area has contacted us about vending (after seeing our plea for a another vendor) and they gave a verbal agreement to start providing eggs soon. So…we will keep you posted. In the meantime, if any of you know of someone interested in selling eggs through our market, please pass their name our way – we’d love to talk to them.

Enrico’s Hot Peanuts

The weather outside may be chilly, but it will be hot, hot inside when you serve your guests Enrico’s nuts at that next gathering. Here’s an idea: try pairing them with Keene Creek Farms pretzels for a snack that is sure to please. Hope all of your holiday gatherings are happy and laughter-filled!

Flying Pig Farm

This week we’ll have Roasted Pumpkin Bread (samples available today), Granola Bars and Sandwich Buns. We’ll also add gift packages for your holiday giving. Flavored hot cocoa mix comes packaged in cute mugs and are affordable for anyone you want to say “thank you” too. We’ll also have rice mix samplers, bread and jam packages or bread and soup packages for a warm, nourishing gift. For the meat lovers in your life we’ve packaged natural hickory chips and dry rub marinades to pair with any of the meats at Local Bounty. You can always make a nice gift of a couple of our jams as well. Our Red Pepper Jelly mixed with 8oz of cream cheese makes a delicious dip for crackers! Red Pepper Jelly or Spiced Almond Plum is also great as a glaze for ham loaf, ribs, meatballs or any roast. Try some today!

Hillbippie

There sure is frost on the pumpkin up on the hill this morning! Warm up with a cup of tea, it soothes and takes off the chill. I will also be blending a Chai in the near future, a spicy blend of black tea, ginger, cinnamon, cardamon and clove, stay tuned. If you would like to special order bread for your Thanksgiving meal please email me at hillbippiehall@gmail.com. I would be happy to do the baking for you! I will have Focaccia and French Boule in the market tomorrow.

Keene Creek Farm

Again, it has been an incredibly busy week around our place. Last weekend, we poured some concrete up at the barn. It was bitter, bitter cold. But, it’s done and now we have a place to set our feed bin and some firm floor space inside the barn. We know many of you are missing our bacon and we *should* have some back in stock tomorrow afternoon. Sorry for the delay, but getting up to the butcher shop this week has been a challenge. We have stocked our stall shelves and delivered some ready to give Christmas gifts (pizza dough mixes with name tags on them – perfect for teachers, bus drivers, neighbors, etc.). Who doesn’t love the gift of food? Our Bar Stool Pretzels continue to be a hit – they’d make a great stocking stuffer. Next week, we will have Christmas Aunt M’s Monster Mix too. It has been awhile since we pushed our lard – but giving the upcoming pie season, it’s the perfect time to mention it again. Look for our rendered pork fat in the large red cooler. Substitute it for shortening (which was made in a chemistry lab) in your favorite pie crust recipe. The crust will have a more savory flavor and flake like no other. Let the holiday festivities begin…!

Mullet Apiaries

Our ladies are resting now, but we are still busy bringing their product to you. We have gift packages in the store this week. They make great hostess gifts when you visit family and friends over the holidays. While you are watching those big flakes fall, try a cup of Hillbippie’s yummy teas with a spoonful of honey to warm and sweeten your day. What about a drizzle of honey on carrots or sweet potatoes from one of our vegetable vendors? Getting a chill or sore throat? Hot water, lemon and honey will sooth that right away. Here’s wishing everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving next week. We are certainly grateful for all of you!

Pearl Valley Butter

Just in time for the upcoming baking season, Pearl Valley butter is back in stock.

Pink Elephant Coffee

Hi coffee lovers! The holidays are coming and we have the delicious coffee you need to fuel you through all that cooking, plus Pink Elephant makes the perfect accompaniment to that slice of pumpkin pie (or two!). We’re all stocked up with Tanzania Peaberry, Colombia Excelso Huila, Organic Mexican Decaf, and Costa Rica La Trinidad Honey. Also, coffee makes a great hostess gift! Pick up a pound or an 8-ounce bag to bring to parties and holiday dinners. Enjoy

Thousand Hill Acres

Mark Reed provided leadership to our market for more than two years and provided delicious pork to you all. But, he has decided to step away from LB and will no longer stock pork for us. Thanks Mark for what you contributed over the years.
