| April 16, 2015

Good Morning,

Spring is in full swing! Come see what we have to offer, today and tomorrow 10-6, Sat. 9-1.

DATE CHANGE: Salad Dressings & Whipped Butters Class

Want to learn how to make a few super-flavorful salad dressings for the upcoming “greens” season? Or, how about some whipped butters to top off veggies/meat off the grill or some homemade bread? Kristie Henderson and Marissa Mullett will teach a class featuring these two things on Thursday, April 30 from 6-7 p.m. Registration for the class is $10 and is required. Please register by e-mailing localbountycoshocton@gmail.com or signing up in the market. Samples will be plentiful, promise.

Vendor Updates:

Flying Pig Farm

Our bulbs are blooming, the trees are flowering, the pasture is green…it finally looks like spring! We hope you’re enjoying it as much as we are. Our Blueberry Scones were so popular I made double this week. Next week I’m thinking of adding strawberry…yummy! We also have our popular Wheat, Garlic Herb, Cinnamon Raisin and Gluten-free Bread, Wheat and Gluten-free Sandwich Buns and Croutons. Sandwich buns are the perfect addition for grilling. Look for gluten-free samples on the sample table. Have a great weekend!

Hillbippie

We’re back from sunny FL just in time for spring!  I have Focaccia and Full Wheat Bread in store today.  Full Wheat is made with delicious Prairie Gold Wheat Flour, it is light and so good.  I also restocked Reset Button, grab yours today!  Thank you kindly 🙂

Humble Bee Bakery

This week I’ve brought classic flavors but added a “lil oomph” to them! As usual, I have two cupcake selections available for sale in 4-packs and singles.  Treat yourself and share with your family, co-workers, and friends.

Nilla Vanilla Cupcakes – Vanilla cake with a Nilla wafer cookie baked into the top.  Swirled with vanilla buttercream and topped with a whole Nilla wafer.

Triple Chocolate Cupcakes – Chocolate cake topped with chocolate buttercream and a generous sprinkling of mini chocolate chips!

I’m happy to see Cinnamon Swirl Bread is holding strong so that has been re-stocked this week.

NEW~ Lemon Crumb Bars–a buttery crust topped with tangy lemon curd and lots of buttery crumbles (that IS the best part!) Sold in packages of 3 bars each.

As always, THANK YOU

Keene Creek Farm

It has been a whirlwind around here lately. Because of the late arrival of spring temperatures, we didn’t get our hoop house seeded like we typically do. So, we cheated and purchased some plugs to plant instead of seeds – kale and lettuce are now growing really well. 🙂 We hope to have some lettuce to harvest and sell in two to three weeks. We are also gearing up to breed four new gilts (female pigs that haven’t had a litter of piglets yet). The big debate has been whether to artificially inseminate them or to invest in another boar (if you’ve been following our farming adventures for awhile, you know that we bought an Old Spot boar, but he went lame within a couple of months of us having him). We decided to go with Mother Nature and purchased a young boar. He is extremely docile and since we just brought him home last night he doesn’t yet have a name. His bloodline is Registered Berkshire and Yorkshire. Rowdi also went to a livestock auction a couple of weeks ago and bought six more feeder pigs (about 60 pounds) to “fatten” up. There are also nearly 30 pullet chicks in our garage. Hopefully we will get the hen house renovations done soon because they’ll be ready to move into it in the next week or two. Our freezer is pretty well stocked for you (pork and Texas Longhorn beef). I need to make a meat run this afternoon though – so more is coming too.

Strawberry Hill Farm

Yay for spring—warm weather, green grass, flowers, and planting in the garden! We are again selling certified organic seedlings at Local Bounty, grown on our farm. You can order and pick up at the store. Take a look at the color chart of seedlings available, fill out an order form by our display, and put it in the folder provided. Seedlings include many kinds of tomatoes, sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, and basil. They come in 3-inch biodegradable pots, and sell for $2.50 each. Payment is on delivery to the store. Seedlings will be ready in mid-May. We will let you know when your plants are ready and you can pick them up at Local Bounty.

Thank you for your support!
