Local Bounty welcomes new vendor

| November 7, 2013

Local Bounty Shoppers – It has been another busy, busy week with market happenings. No closing for the season for us. And, we’re welcoming another new vendor, Sunnybrook Acres. Be sure to check out their line of body care products in the market this week.

First, an announcement about Thanksgiving week hours, then onto our regular update:

Open 2-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 27

Although we are not typically open on Wednesdays, we are making an exception for Thanksgiving week. We wanted to be open for you all to grab those last-minute meal preparation ingredients (and fresh ones at that). If you’d like to order any goods from some of our vendors, now would be a good time to get your order in. We will have normal business hours Friday (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) after Thanksgiving.

Hall-RB-Hill
This week I have some beautiful Swiss Braid Breads, they are wonderful for breakfast. I will also have focaccia and Italian loaves.

Keene Creek Farm

This week we will have several bags of salad greens in the cooler. Marissa picked, rinsed and bagged it for you Wednesday evening. We’ve been enjoying salads for dinner almost every night, such a treat in November. We are getting ready to buy more pigs to bring home to the farm so we have more out on pasture before we take the next batch to the processor (December 7). Our dry goods shelves are stocked with bread and pizza dough mixes (if you haven’t tried them yet, please do, they’re so tasty topped with some of our sausage), Aunt M’s Monster Mix and other dip mixes. We look forward to restocking your favorite pork products in December. Sorry our selection is so limited right now. We’ve been truly blown away by how quickly you all gobble up our freezer stock. Thank you for trusting us to feed your families

Loveridge House Brand

Good Morning from Knox County. The next time Susie and I work at the store, we will bring our traditional Holiday Gift Packs. It will include one 4 oz. pack each of peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter and smokey almond butter! Our other butters are in 8 oz. jars.  They will be in an attractive white gift box. We work the first shift, on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Why not give the gift of food?

Mill Creek Homestead
Our family has exciting news to announce. January 1 we are leaving for a 4 month mission trip to Zambia, Africa! Josh is an airplane mechanic here at MMS Aviation, so we’ll be on loan for a few months to help Mission Flight Services while they are short staffed. We are very excited about this opportunity. I am working hard to make soap as fast as I can and my shelf will remained stocked, thanks to a dear friend, but if you have something in particular you would like to pre-order, please leave a message at the store, or email me at millcreekhomestead@gmail.com. You can also follow our family’s adventure at adelsbergerinaviation.blogspot.com. Rosemary Mint whipped shea butter is back in stock this week.  Also, while supplies last, pick up the seasonal Pumpkin Swirl soap.  Made with real pumpkin puree, it is truly “food for your skin”!

Strawberry Hill Farm
We’ve been having some beautiful fall days, and there are still some bright-colored trees around the farm. Love this season! This week at Local Bounty we’ll have kale, salad mix (mixed lettuce), arugula, kohlrabi, a few bags of fresh parsley, sweet potatoes, and acorn squash. Unfortunately we won’t have many eggs at the store this week. We’ve had a run on them at the farm!

Windy Hill Berry Farm
This week we are having a special on eggs and English muffins. Buy them bundled together (located in the cooler) and save $1.00. Choose from both Old Fashioned or Multigrain muffins. We’ll also have sweet potatoes, fresh rosemary and chives. Nothing says ‘Fall’ like Sweet Potato butter (think Apple Butter), and this week we made a bunch of it. It is very popular with kids so if they won’t eat sweet potatoes, put some of this on their toast. Something else good for breakfast is our blueberry-banana bread, available in mini loaves. Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks away. Don’t show up for dinner empty handed. Give the hostess a gift basket filled with a jar of sweet potato butter and a peach jam or butter. Yum!

Many thanks for your continued support.
