Lois Jean Farmer

Lois Jean Farmer, 95, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021.

Lois was born on June 24, 1926, in Coshocton to the late Thurman and Ethyl (Parks) Sturtz. She graduated from Coshocton High School in 1944. She worked at The Newberry Company in Coshocton until her first child was born. Lois was a member of Keene United Methodist Church, Keene Hill Grange, Keene Happy Neighbors and was the last remaining original member of her Hausey Card Club.

Lois married V. Leonard Farmer in Biloxi, Mississippi on Nov. 23, 1943. Together they raised four children, Gary (Charlotte) Farmer of Cambridge, Ohio; Larry (Cindy) Farmer of Coshocton, Ohio; Terry (Paula) Farmer of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and Julie (Don) Pepper of Coshocton, Ohio. Additional family includes: 11 grandsons, Aaron, Ted, Len, Alan, Matthew, Brian, Nicholas (Danielle) and Andrew (Molly) Farmer; Zane (Caitlin), Bryce (Courtney) and Reas Pepper, and one granddaughter, Aarica (Larry) Shuman, 16 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren. Lois is also survived by her brother, Richard Sturtz of Thornville, Ohio and dear friend, Dawn Foster-Barnes. Leonard preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 2009 as did Larry on Aug. 13, 2016.

Per her wishes, a private family memorial service was held at Franklin Cemetery on Thursday, Dec. 30.

Lois loved to read, swim, and walk. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Coshocton Public Library, 655 Main St., the Janet Jones Mulligan Aquatic Fund in care of the Coshocton Foundation, PO Box 55, or to Kids America, Inc., PO Box 1177 Coshocton, OH 43812.
