Margaret Mae Tarter, 92, of Coshocton passed away at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus on Monday, July 5, 2021,

Mae was born in Hooverville, Ontario on May 28, 1929, to the late Bill and Olga (Armendinger) Shook.

In her earlier years she was a legal secretary. She attended London Bible College in London, Ontario before becoming a missionary with CHRISTAR, then known as The India Mission. Mae served 12 years in India and many years in the mission’s headquarters. Mae was a superb hostess and complement to her husband Bill Tarter, whom she married in 1970, throughout his tenure as president of CHRISTAR. In 2012 the Tarters moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio to be near family. They attended Calvary Baptist Church in Coshocton.

She is survived by her daughter Rena (Dwight) Jarboe of Coshocton; son Bill (Deborah) Tarter of Florida; five grandchildren, Billy (Denise) Tarter, Andrew (Rumana) Tarter, Cynthia (Amanda) Tarter, Jen (Jason) Robinson, Scott (Stephanie) Jarboe; eight great-grandchildren, Chanelle and Javin Robinson, Kiara Jarboe, Jasper and Ruby Tarter, Rumi and Robin Tarter, Avery Tarter; one brother Hank Shook of Ontario, Canada; many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Rev. Bill K. Tarter, who passed away on April 2, 2014; five brothers Jerry, Bill, Herb, Roger and Wayne Shook; two sisters Marian Johnson and Vivian L. Rhodes.

A memorial service for Mae will be held at the Fresno Bible Church on Thursday July 15th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chris Cutshall officiating. Church address: 24629 State Route 93, Fresno, OH 43824.
