Marie Secrest
Marie Secrest, age 90, of Coshocton, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023 in Hilliard, Ohio.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Latchic and was born May 17, 1933, on her Father’s birthday.
Marie graduated Cum Laude from the College of St. Mary of the Springs, now Ohio Dominican University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing.
She was a 60 year member of Sacred Heart Church of Coshocton, a life member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, she was a founding member of Hospice of Coshocton County. She was an active member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Coshocton Friends of the Library and the Pregnancy Distress Center of Coshocton County. Marie enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
Marie is survived by her loving children, Dr. Joel (Lynn) Secrest, Thomas (Karen) Secrest, Beth (Frank) Vazzano, and Diane Secrest; grandchildren, Connor, Spenser, Alexa, Sam, Sarah, and Will.
Along with her parents, Marie is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Robert Secrest, her grandson, Tyler Secrest, her sister, Barbara Choma and her brother, John Latchic.
Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coshocton with Father Thomas Gardner officiating. Burial will be held at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to Sacred Heart School, 39 Burt Ave., Coshocton, Ohio 43812 or to the Salvation Army of Coshocton, 219 N. 4th St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
