Martin Luther King Jr. celebration announced

COSHOCTON – This year the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The church is located at the corner of Main and Eighth streets here in Coshocton. Music will be provided by the Chancel Choir of Central Christian and the speaker will be Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson who will speak on the topic, “A Call to Trust and Unity,” based upon Psalm 96:1-7 and I Corinthians 1:10-17.

Rev. Jackson is a native of Kentucky. She most recently retired after 18 ½ years as the senior pastor of the Shreve Christian Church in Shreve. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wis. and her Master of Divinity degree from the Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Ky. Rev Jackson currently serves on the ART-PRO, the Spiritual Life Counsel and the Commission on Ministry for the Christian Church in Ohio. She is the author of a study/action guide entitled, “Homeless, Hunger and Health Care.” She has traveled to Iona, Scotland, and Taize, France. Rev. Jackson is a second career person. Previously to being a church pastor, she was a departmental administrator at a teaching academic hospital in Wisconsin.

The whole Coshocton community is invited to attend this celebration. A free-will offering will be taken to help support St. Andrews A.M.E. and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. A time of fellowship, sponsored by Coshocton BPW, will follow the service.
