Mary Madeline (Stevens) Chaney

Mary Madeline (Stevens) Chaney, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

She was born May 30, 1933 in Newark to the late Charles and Cleatus (Donahoo) Stevens, and recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends. She was a 1952 graduate of Union High School, and soon after married Donald Lee Chaney June 20, 1952. He preceded her in death Dec. 20, 2008. She worked for a time at Indianapolis Glove/Saablie.

Mary enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, gardening, and later in life she loved her time with friends at Windsorwood Place and playing chair volleyball.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Mike) Reynolds of Canal Lewisville, and Judy (Doug) Ugie of Cooperdale; two grandsons, Joshua (Kelly) Ward, and Derrick (Angie) Beatty; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Emma, & Anna Ward, Lane & Colt Beatty, and Ayzraela Vincent Ugie; a sister, Fay Hutchison of Coshocton; a brother, Charles “Tom” Stevens of Malta; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Taylor Ugie; son-in-law, Dwight Beatty; brother-in-law, George Hutchison; and sister-in-law, Joyce Stevens.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to service time. A fellowship meal will be provided at Cooperdale Nazarene Church after the conclusion of services. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
