Miller highlights broadband expansion
State Representative Kevin Miller (R-Newark) is proud to announce $232 Million has been approved for grant projects to expand broadband access across the state.
This funding will be utilized for 33 projects stretching across 31 of Ohio’s counties. As a result, more than 43,000 households will see affordable high-speed internet in their homes.
The 72nd district will see investments in both Perry and Coshocton counties.
“It is imperative that those in our community have affordable access to high-speed intranet and it is wonderful to see this grant funding coming to Perry and Coshocton counties to provide just that,” Miller said.
Perry County has been awarded more than $3.5 million for its broadband expansion. This funding will help to serve 1,093 people in the county.
Over $1 million was provided to Coshocton County to help provide high-speed internet to 1254 people.
Furthermore, over $3.5 million will be granted to Licking County which will serve 176 households throughout the county.
Upon completion of these two proposed projects, residents in Perry, Coshocton and Licking County will have access to Spectrum Internet Gig service, with speeds of up to one-gigabit download and 500-megabit upload.
“Though this is a step in the right direction we must continue to invest in our communities and I am eager to carry on the work in Columbus fighting to make Ohio’s 72nd district a better place for all those who call it home,” Miller said.
