Monte Giesey

| August 7, 2023

Monte Giesey, 67 of Coshocton, passed away on August 4, 2023 at his home. The son of John and Alice (Shepherd) Bragg, he was born on April 15, 1956 in Barnesville, Ohio. He was truly a jack of all trades, including wood working, mechanic, and bus driver instructor. He was active in the Freeport community, where he was a Lions Club member, a baseball coach and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He was a self-taught musician, playing multiple instruments but favoring the guitar. He had a strong faith and was dedicated to the Nazarene Church, always looking for ways to share about Jesus. He enjoyed gardening, boating, fishing and family time. He was a great story teller and loved to rile his audience while keeping a straight face. Monte was supportive of the interests of others, which made him a great gift giver. He was unconditionally proud of his children and grandchildren, to whom he was known as “Happy”.

Monte is survived by his children, Crystal Giesey of Canton, Stephanie Giesey of New Philadelphia, Ben (Brandi) Giesey of Coshocton, Jillian (Joseph) Bolon of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Logan Bailey, Jordan (Sarah Sawman) Carkin, Grayson Giesey, Jaxson Giesey, Hunter Bolon and Conner Bolon; siblings, Scott Giesey, Larry (Jackie) Phillips, Rocky (Tammie) Phillips, Sharry (Gene) Adams, Shena (Eric) Wyler and Tina Phillips.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Carkin.

A private celebration of life will take place with his family and friends.
