Nationwide offices merge into one on Chestnut Street
COSHOCTON – Nationwide Insurance – John A. Dunlop merged with Nationwide Boyer Insurance on Feb. 1 at 225 Chestnut St. The merger comes after policy changes at Nationwide which made Dunlop’s merger with Boyer appealing.
“Because Scott is a good agent and very generous, it made it an easy decision to come over here with him,” said Dunlop.
Dunlop has been an agent for 38 years. He is a 1965 graduate of Coshocton High School and a 1969 graduate of Kenyon College. He was a school teacher for four years at Tri-Valley and then came to Coshocton to teach until 1979. He then quit his teaching career and went into the insurance business with his father-in-law, Lou Harper. His former business was located at 405 S. Whitewoman St.
Boyer is a 1976 graduate of West Muskingum and went to the University of South Carolina where he enrolled in ROTC. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy for 16 years and during that time, taught ROTC at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, Boyer received a master’s in finance. After retiring from the Navy, he went back to Zanesville and went into the insurance business with his father, who retired in 2003. He worked in Coshocton now and then until 2011 when he purchased Sam Lowery’s agency at 225 Chestnut St.
Boyer is a master certified farm agent and a registered investment advisor (IRA). He has also been a member of the million dollar round table for 11 years.
Dunlop said the only changes his customers will see is just a new location. He still plans to offer the same quality of service he always has.
“I think the service will be enhanced because of the staff here,” he said. “I believe I will be a better agent because of my association with Scott.”
Dunlop brings with him Debbie Dunlop and Kathy Snyder from his former location. In addition, other staff members include Kelley Komaromy, Melissa Shreve, Ellyn Meiser, and Jennifer Duncan. Other associate agents include James Martin and Tyler Shackelford.
“I’ve been working on him for a while to get him to do this,” said Boyer. “I see it as a win-win. With us being in control in the merger instead of Nationwide bringing someone in that John didn’t know, we know John’s customers are being taken care of the way John wants.”
Dunlop wants his customers to know that he is not retiring and that they will begin getting correspondence from Nationwide that is marked as Boyer Ins., LLC, but he is still in business, just in a different location.
