Neal closes out RVHS career at state meet

For only the fourth time in school history, River View sent a team to the cross country meet, which was held Nov. 4 at National Trail Raceway. That team included three seniors, Lane Beatty, Sawyer Neal and Austin Hill. The team qualified for state at their regional meet, which was held Oct. 28. WARSAW – The River View High School Black Bears sent a squad of runners to the OHSAA State Cross Country Meet held Saturday, Nov. 4 at National Trails Raceway in Hebron.

 

In unofficial results as of press time, RV senior Sawyer Neal finished 45th at 16:52.1 with teammate Austin Hill placing 93rd at 17.15.9 while Lane Beatty placed 148th at 18.07.1, Nathaniel Stamper placed 149th at 18.08.1, Nick Grashel placed 162nd at 18.33.4, Patrick Stanton placed 177th with a time of 19.31.3 and freshman Brayden Cross finished 179th at 19.51.9. Cross was the first alternate for the Bears and ran for Colton Miller who became ill on Friday evening prior to the meet. Coach Gwenna Neal reported that three of the state squad earned All-Ohio Academic honors; Sawyer Neal, Austin Hill and Colton Miller. The honor is bestowed on those with a GPA above 3.5.
