Coshocton has a new restaurant in Roscoe Village. The Roscoe Barbeque Company held its grand opening on July 1. The restaurant is located at 672 N. Whitewoman St. in the former Wildwood Music.
Brook Winegar is the owner, along with business partner, Michael Moffitt. “We purchased the building in 2020, right before COVID hit. We weren’t sure what we wanted to do with it, at first. We just knew we wanted to restore it. It turned out to be a bigger project than either of us thought it would be. COVID delayed us quite a bit with it being harder to find construction materials.”
“He (Moffitt) lives in Texas and we both travel a lot. I’ve been spoiled by Texas barbecue, so we thought we would bring that to Ohio. I know there are other barbecue places in Coshocton, but we wanted a sit down restaurant.”
The Roscoe Barbeque Company will be open Wednesday – Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. or until they run out of barbecue. “It takes 20 hours to cook some of the meat, so we can’t just start cooking more.” The dining area will seat about 22, but there is also plenty of porch and lawn seating. “We just ask that everyone be patient as we’ve heard about the crowds other places had when they opened. We will do our best.”
Moffitt’s wife, Kendall, did all of the interior design work and his son, Drake, will be the restaurant manager. The business is not taking reservations at this time. The menu will include items such as brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, turkey breast and dry rubbed ribs. Sandwiches, sides and desserts are also available.
