| November 14, 2013

COSHOCTON – Mayor Steve Mercer read a proclamation at the Nov. 12, city council meeting that declared November Hire A Veteran Month. The purpose of the proclamation was to encourage all business owners to give priority consideration to a veteran when filling their employment needs.

The proclamation also states that, “Veterans are represented by the many men and women who have served our country with honor and distinction. Their sacrifices and the sacrifices of their families have taught us about duty, devotion, resolve and commitment to protect and defend our country.”

It also explains that veterans deserve the opportunity to apply skills they learned while in the service to civilian jobs.

In the proclamation veterans are described as having qualifications such as, “respect for authority, ability to function as an individual or team player and provide leadership when called upon.”
