Seated is Helen Wright, who was the church’s organist for 40 years. Standing, from left to right, is the church’s current organist, Alice Hoover, who has been an organist for 31 years. Beside her is Tom Havelka, organist at Grace United Methodist Church, which has been meeting at The Presbyterian Church since June 5. He has been an organist for 37 years. Next is Mark Wagner, associate organist at The Presbyterian Church. He has been an organist for 13 years.
Beside Wagner is Chelsea Chen, who presented an exuberant concert on the church’s Taylor and Boody tracker-action pipe organ on Sunday afternoon, May 7. Her program included selections by John Weaver, Johann Sebastian Bach, Maria Theresia von Paradis, Pietro Yon, Felix Mendelssohn, and her own Taiwanese Suite. Most of her pieces were played from memory. At one time, she was playing three different melodies – one with each hand, and one with her feet.
Chen has been an organist for 25 years. Her concert was made possible by the Joe R. Engle Recital Fund and presented in conjunction with the Coshocton Dogwood Festival.
A reception followed the concert in the nearby assembly room.
