Our Town Coshocton installs clock on Main Street

| May 30, 2018

COSHOCTON – On Wednesday, May 30, a very special clock was installed on the corner of Main and Hickory streets in Coshocton.

“Cheryl Triplitt Wantuck was a founding member of Our Town Coshocton,” said Barb Karr, president of Our Town Coshocton. “When she passed away a few years ago, we received a donation from her high school classmates. We were trying to decide what type of project to use the donation on when another board member, Cheryl Cooksey, passed away.”

Karr said the board wanted a permanent project that they felt both Cheryls would like. Wantuck and Cooksey both had a vision of what Coshocton could be and the project had to be something that would follow that vision. “We were motivated to find some way to keep their dream alive of a downtown revitalization.”

The corner where the clock was installed is next to where Triplitt’s Drug Store was and just down the street from the real estate office that Cooksey worked in. “We feel this is the ideal project for the community in their memory to help spur community pride – to encourage people to take pride in Coshocton and pride in their properties,” said Karr.

Terry Lowe, from Our Town Coshocton, coordinated with city officials about the installation of the clock and the landscaping around the base of it. If you would like to make a donation to the project (or any of the other projects Our Town Coshocton is working on) visit www.ourtowncoshocton.org.

“A light pole is going to be moved and we want to finish the landscaping around the base of the clock. When this is finished, we will be having a dedication of the clock in memory of these two amazing ladies,” said Karr.
