| May 24, 2022

Paul Frederick “Tim” Rea, age 82, passed peacefully on May 21, 2022, at his home on the hill, after a courageous battle with cancer. Affectionately known as “Tim” to his friends and family, he was born the youngest son of Harry G. and Elsie Turner Rae, on July 14, 1939, in Coshocton. He graduated with the Class of 1957 from Coshocton High School, and then honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1958 to 1961.

He fell in love with and married Susan Tyson, who survives, on September 12, 1964, and again in a vow renewal on their 50th anniversary at The Little Chapel in the Woods at Elvis’s Presley’s Graceland. He and Susan travelled all 50 states, Canada, Europe, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Cuba.

Tim was the proud and loving father of Matthew (Rachel Buske) of Columbus and Jeremy (Shelley Stortz) and grandfather of Max and Jesse Rea of San Leandro, California. Many memories of annual father-son backpacking, hiking trips included climbing Mt. St. Helens, rafting the Colorado River, camping on Isle Royale, exploring Ireland, walking Hadrian’s Wall in Northern England, and in the Highlands of Scotland. His loved ones treasured their time with Tim and the lessons he taught them. He will be deeply missed.

He received his BT Mechanical Engineering degree from Akron University, and his MBA from Xavier University. As an engineer he had many employers over the years including Clows, Rockwell, Burnham, General Electric, and retired from Empire Plastics in Newcomerstown.

Tim was a 50 year member of the West Lafayette Lions Club and a member of the West Lafayette Masonic Lodge #602 F.&A.M. and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite in the Valley of Cambridge.

He enjoyed golfing, skiing, GOBA bike trips, and visits to Whit’s with his life-long friend Pete Reichardt. He enjoyed building his home, caring for and mowing his 50 acres with his big “Green Machines” and held a private pilot’s license.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws Francis and Marno Tyson, and his siblings Grace Taylor, Alice Warnes, Dorothy Totsch, Harry Rea, Roberta and Elizabeth Rea. He is survived by his brother William Rea of Nashport, and many special loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at Coshocton County Memory Gardens on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12:00 pm, and will include Masonic rites and Coshocton Veterans Honor Guard performing military honors.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for later on the hill.
