Paul McCormick Rogers

Paul McCormick Rogers, Jr., 91, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Kingston Residence of Marion, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 6, 1930 in Lorain to the late Paul and Lillie (Morris) Rogers. Paul graduated from Prospect High School in 1947, and later from The Ohio State University, where he was active in the Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. He married Barbara J. (Cameron) Rogers on Aug. 20, 1950, who preceded him in death on their 64th anniversary in 2014.

He served his country in the US Army as part of the Marshall Plan to rebuild Germany in the years following WWII, and also during the Korean Conflict. He returned home to teach, including Veterans Institutional On the Farm training, and VoAg for 6 ½ years. He then served as Director for Marion Co. Children’s Services for 27 ½  years.

Paul was a member of Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, the Coshocton, Warsaw, & Marion Lions Clubs, and the Coshocton Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, and reading, and he loved traveling. He was very proud to have taken part in the Veterans “Honor Flight” in September of 2018. He also loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Teresa Fisher of Marion, Christy (Kirk) Cognion of Coshocton, and Cecil (Amy) Johnson of Dauphin, PA; his grandchildren, Ryan (Sarah) Daum, Amber Daum, Nikki (Ed) Hamilton, Emily (Stephen) Williams, Heather (Kelly) Andres, Courtney (Adam) Shamenek, and Justin (Brittany) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Reece & Raleigh Daum, Bailey (Chad) Cavinee, Elise & Aaron Barnhart, Evan, Christine, & Lily Williams, Tyler, Evangeline, & Lachlan Shamenek, and Mason & Kayleb Andres; three great-great-grandchildren, Cian, Kenna, and Oakley Paul; three brothers, J.W. (Heather) Rogers of Marysville, Morris Rogers of Steubenville, and The Honorable Richard M. (Sophie) Rogers of Marion; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Webb of St. Peterburg, FL; and several nieces & nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Bright; two sisters, Mary Alice Rogers and Linda Jean Webb; a sister-in-law, Judy (Bob) Corwin; and a son-in-law, Clarence Fisher.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Rev. Dail Parrish officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Coshocton Co. Joint Veterans Council Honor Guard, and a Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by Three Rivers Lodge #799. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Capacity at the funeral home is limited, and all guests are required to wear a face mask. A memorial service will be held in Marion at a later date.
