Paul Verl Marlatt

PictureCOSHOCTON – Paul Verl Marlatt, age 87, of Coshocton, OH passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017.

Paul was born in Isletta on August 15, 1929 to the late David Warner and Vera (Treasure) Marlatt. Paul worked for Poland’s Garage and The Gravel Company before he was drafted into the United States Army in 1951, and then honorably discharged in 1953. Then he worked for The Gravel Company, Jones Metal, Vicker’s Gas Station, and Ward Lanning Trucking as a crew manager.  When Saunders Trucking bought Lanning, he worked as a mechanic for 10 years and then became the company manager for another 10 years.  Paul then worked for City Water Works for 5 years until he retired at the age of 65. After retirement, he started mowing grass at River Greens Golf Course. He enjoyed spending his free time golfing. In addition to golfing, Paul also liked to watch sports; he was an avid OSU fan. Paul was a lifetime member of the Newcomerstown Elks and also a member of the Coshocton AMVETS and the West Lafayette American Legion.

Paul is survived by his children, Verl (Belinda) Marlatt and Marcia (Chuck) Hothem; two grandchildren, Chad (Whitney) Marlatt and Nathan Ekleberry; four great-grandchildren: Wyatt Paul and Ella Marlatt, and Lucy and Gage Ekleberry; companion, Diana Swigert, and sister-in-law, Joy Marlatt.

Along with his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his two brothers, Lester and Harold Marlatt; and four step-siblings: Harold, Bill, and Helen Alloway, and Mildred Conrad.

Calling hours will be held at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. and on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Council performing military honors.
