Pauline “Polly” Pepper
Pauline “Polly” Pepper passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, just 5 days after her 92nd birthday, with her family by her side.
Polly was born on February 12, 1933, in Adams Mills, Ohio where she grew up in the loving home of Charles and Geneva (Stiner) Slaughter, alongside her siblings, and graduated from Conesville High School. On July 24, 1953, she married her husband of 58 years, Kenneth” Kenny” Pepper, who predeceased her on November 4, 2011. Together, they built a home, life and family that would be her greatest pride.
Polly’s commitment to her faith and community was evident through her lifelong membership at Conesville United Methodist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School for many years. She extended her service as a member of the Conesville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Coshocton Hospital Pink Ladies. Polly was also a member of the Sweet Adelines and the church choir where her love of music uplifted everyone around her. Polly was a self-taught piano player and enjoyed playing for all the little ones who came to visit, or just for fun! She was a very talented seamstress, who made many beautiful wedding dresses and was known to stay up half the night making cute outfits for her girls to wear to a family reunion the next day!
Throughout her life, Polly worked as manager at Sycks Bakery for 15 years then when the bakery closed, she went on to work as a cashier at Baker’s IGA where she made many friends throughout the community, always with a smile!
Polly is survived by her daughters, Sherry Aronhalt of Warsaw and Shelly (Wes) Sarchet of Frazeysburg, and a very special granddaughter/daughter, Angie Buckmaster. Sisters Junetta Gwilliam of Kaysville, Utah and Martha Veigel of Coshocton; Grandchildren, Jenny (Scott) Collins, Bryan (Renee) Aronhalt, Tonya (TJ) Ruby, Bob, Steve (Carla) and Jamie Aronhalt, Britney (Tom)Soles, Caleb (Heather) Hindel, Draeson Hindel, Justin Aronhalt, Josh (Tina) Aronhalt, Jeremy (Michelle Lusk) Aronhalt, Jaiden Moran, Darcey (Garrett Wolford) Mizer and Garrison (Holly) Sarchet, and many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Polly also leaves behind her “McDonald’s Family” who she thoroughly enjoyed spending lunch dates with a few times a week when she could, special friends Keith, Cheryl and Sandy, and many more.
Along with her husband Kenny, Polly was predeceased by her daughter Susan Hindel; her brothers, Howard, Eugene and Jack Slaughter: and sons-in-law Jimmy Aronhalt and Mike Hindel.
Polly’s life is a testament to the power of love. As she reunites with her beloved family members who have passed before her, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Polly’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness and the memories shared with those whom she loved.
