Piano contest winner named
On Sunday evening, April 7, at the Roscoe Village Foundation Visitor Center before an enthusiastic crowd and a panel of five judges, two finalists performed on the Montgomery piano to determine the senior division winner of the 36th annual Edward E. Montgomery Jr. Piano Competition.
Kayli Schoch, the daughter of Lori and Kevin Schoch and an 11th grade student at Liberty University Online Academy emerged as the winner with her performance of Waltz, Op.70 No 1. She received a $1,000 cash award from The Montgomery Foundation.
Kenley Hayes, the daughter of Melissa and Biff Hayes, a 10th-grade student at Newcomerstown High School also vied for the award with her performance of March of the Dwarfs, Op. 54 No 3.
The 2025 competition is currently scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025.
