The Pomerene Center for the Arts received a $9,400 grant from the John D. O’Shea and Kathleen E. O’Shea Revocable Trust at the Coshocton Foundation in support of its third annual free Summer Street Dance Series in the artPARK.

“We have a really great lineup this year, including the Chardon Polks Band that wowed the Double Vision (Foreigner Tribute Band) pre-crowd from on the second level of the artPARK gallery,” said Artistic Director Anne Cornell.

This year’s lineup includes Tango with the Dave Schubach Quintet on Friday, June 7; Polka with the Chardon Polka Band on Friday, June 21; Latin Jazz with Yumbambe on Friday, July 5; Big Band Music with the Lake Park Big Band on Friday, July 19; and Scottish and Baroque Reels with Les Delices early music on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Activities start at 7 p.m. with free classes led by dance instructor Tim Cohen who will introduce rudimentary steps —Tango, Polka, Salsa, East Coast Swing, and English Country Dancing respectively. He has taught dance professionally in Columbus, Millersburg and — now in his current community of residence — Coshocton.

Mary Beck from the Coshocton County Board of Commissioners is leading a local conversation to grow free downtown music concerts. The Pomerene, along with the Coshocton Community Band who performs alternate Friday nights through the summer months, is proud to contribute to that effort.
