Pregnancy Distress Center of Coshocton having layette fundraiser

| February 12, 2021

The Pregnancy Distress Center of Coshocton Layette Fund, is among the first organizations to be featured on the Appalachian Ohio’s new Cause Connector giving website. On Feb. 10 the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio launched a new giving website called Cause Connector. Cause Connector is a charitable matchmaking site that allows you to easily find and support the causes and communities you care about. Cause Connectors projects serve their local community across the areas of arts and culture, community and economic development, education, environmental stewardship, and health and human resources.

The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio designed Cause Connector in a unique way. Every gift to Cause Connector will support two things – the project of the donor’s choice like “Pregnancy Distress Layette Fund”and the Foundations “I’m a Child of Appalachia Fund.” The foundation has a dollar-for-dollar match available during the launch of Cause Connector. This means that every gift to a project is matched and enables them to reach their fundraiser goal faster.

The Pregnancy Distress Center of Coshocton County provides service to women in Coshocton County who may have a pregnancy and find themselves unable to economically or emotionally provide for a newborn. The Pregnancy Distress Center provides free pregnancy tests, emotional support, information on medical and financial resources and has a 24-hour hotline. It provides a new crib and mattress (one per family), used maternity clothes, gently used children’s clothing sizes newborn to 2T, and any other used furniture or baby items that have been donated to the center. Mothers may exchange for new sizes as the infant grows. All items are donated except for the crib, mattress and layette which are newly purchased. Each new mother is given a newly purchased layette consisting of two of each: Onesies, receiving blankets, crib sheets, crib blankets, sleepers, bibs, a hooded bath towel, and a new outfit of clothing. Each layette cost at least $50. The project goal is to purchase 12 complete layettes, which will provide the center with enough layettes to last the entire 2021 year.

Projects will, be listed on the Cause Connector website from Feb. 10 – April 9.

The Pregnancy Distress is located at 819 Main St. Appointments can be made by calling the helpline at 740-622-3808.
