Rebecca Lynn (Hicks) Matchett

Rebecca Lynn “Beck / Becky” (Hicks) Matchett, 59, of West Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at Grant Hospital after a six plus week long battle with Covid Pneumonia and its effects.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1962, in Coshocton to James W. “Jay” and E. Marleen (Sharples) Hicks. Becky was a 1981 graduate of Ridgewood High School.

She started out selling Avon, then worked at Miller’s Pharmacy. She was then hired as “parts manager” for Bluck and Son’s Equipment (Massey Ferguson tractor dealership) where she worked for the last 39 years. She was widely known for her Massey parts knowledge.

On July 22, 1995, she married, John Robert Matchett, who survives. Together they had Wade Matchett.

Becky was an avid diecast and model train collector and operated a part time business dealing in these. She also liked reading and watching movies.

Beck is survived by her husband and son, along with her father; In-laws, Scott and Cheryl Matchett, Tracy and Randy Troendly, and Ann Phillips; Nieces, Shelby, and Amanda Matchett, Kacie (Jacob) Henry, Cyana West; Nephews Ryan Thomas and Colt Phillips.  Also survived by her Great-Niece Madison Dean, as well as Melissa Dean, Tyler, and Chelsea Dovenbarger and mother-in-law, Jane (Rick) Porteus Kreidler. Along with NUMEROUS Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Estranged sister Diane (Tom) Dean and several other nieces and nephews.

Becky is preceded in death by her mother, grandparents, two stillborn siblings, Nephew Michael J. Dean and in-laws, Rodney and Judy Matchett.

For Better or Worse, Richer or Poorer, in Sickness and in Health, so long as you both shall live, ‘til Death do you part. Amen

Per Beck’s wishes there will be no calling hours or formal funeral. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
