Registration is open for Scarecrow Town Contest
It’s time to turn Coshocton into a Scarecrow Town again. Registration is open for the annual scarecrow contest. Any resident, business or organization is encouraged to create a scarecrow or scarecrow scene and enter the contest. If you need a place to put your scarecrow, they can be placed at Clary Gardens for free.
All scarecrows will be placed into one of three categories: Pop Culture, Creepy and Traditional (anything that doesn’t fit into the other categories). All of the scarecrows will be entered into the People’s Choice category.
If you register before Saturday, Oct. 1, the cost will be as follows: Businesses – $20, non-profit organizations – $10 and residents – $5. After Oct. 1, add $5 to each price. If you want to place your scarecrow at Clary Gardens, call them at 740-622-6524 and they will help you place your creation on the walking trail. Register at www.scarecrowtown.com. Registration is open until late October.
“We are partnering with the new Leadership Coshocton County class to be our panel of judges this year. Many of them are associated with businesses or organizations that put up scarecrows, so they will not be permitted to vote on categories where they have affiliated entries,” said Jandi Adams, director of Clary Gardens.
Residents are encouraged to watch for scarecrows around town and vote for their favorite. A map will be available on the scaretown.com web page as scarecrows are registered. Online voting will be available from Oct. 1–28. You can vote for as many scarecrows as you like. The winners will be announced at the Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Clary Gardens.
