Rep Gibbs gives statement on FBI recommendations regarding Hillary Clinton

| July 6, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – After FBI Director James Comey’s announcement recommending no charges against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“After detailing the number of emails containing classified information stored on and transmitted to or from Secretary Clinton’s private unsecured server, the FBI Director’s recommendation that no charges be filed by the Department of Justice is outrageous. The facts are Hillary Clinton set up a private email server, risked national security because of it, and in the Director’s own words, Clinton and her colleagues ‘were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive highly, classified information’.

“That Hillary Clinton is facing no legal consequences for her actions shows the complete disregard the Obama Administration has for the rule of law. She should be held accountable for gross negligence under the law. No politician, including Hillary Clinton, is above the law and should be held to the same legal standard and level of accountability as every American. Today’s developments show the exact opposite and that people like Hillary Clinton play by a different set of rules than the rest of us.”
