Richard J. Kowalewski

Richard John Kowalewski, 75, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville.

He was born July 18, 1946 in Somerset, PA to the late Walter E. Kowalewski and Jean (Davis) Hildenbrand. He served in the US Army during Vietnam, and started working at AEP Conesville in 1984, retiring in 2008.

Dick enjoyed golfing, was an avid deer hunter, and he dabbled in the stock market. He always enjoyed a good cup of coffee, and he loved any chance he had to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, & Penguins, and Penn State football. He coached many of his sons’ sports teams as they were growing up, and he loved skiing and taught them how to ski as well.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Kowalewski of Warsaw; four sons, Richie (Julie) Kowalewski of Hebron, KY, Sean Kowalewski of Cleveland, Ryan Kowalewski of Columbus, and Kevin (Kristen) Kowalewski of Columbus; grandchildren, Lily & Jackson Kowalewski; a sister, Judy (Lee) Zazworsky of Granville; a nephew, David Zazworsky, and niece, Jessica Zazworsky, both of Minneapolis, MN; and loved by many other great nieces, great nephews, and in-laws.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
