Richard Shryock recognized at board meeting

WEST LAFAYETTE – The Ridgewood Local Board of Education met in regular session on Sept. 16.

Superintendent Mike Masloski updated the board on the current enrollment in the district as of Aug. 23 (1,271) compared to the enrollment in May 2019 (1,278).  The board recognized the hard work of Richard Shryock, a faithful volunteer that plants flowers and spreads mulch around the Ridgewood Middle School sign and has done so for several years. His dedication to beautify the school grounds and the flowerbeds is greatly appreciated.

Masloski recommended and the board approved the following actions:

  • Hiring Elaine Haynes – second shift custodian at RHS
  • Classified subs Christy Jones and Arlene Mullet
  • Volunteers Melissa McMillan, Patricia Thompson, and Martha Conrad at RES; David Allen and Michelle Allen – band; Ron Bond – district.
  • Supplementals: Maria Prater and Duke Stark as mentor coordinator 50 percent each.
  • Dan Erb as school van driver
  • Leave of Absence for district employee on or about December 13, 2019
  • Field trip for the drama department students to Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 3, to see Mean Girls musical
  • Purchase of nine passenger van from Jeff Drennen as presented
  • Trading in the 2013 Ford E-350 Van.

The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at the administration building, 301 S. Oak St.
