Rick L. Haines
Rick Lee Haines, 53, passed away Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.
He was born Sunday, Sept. 19, 1971 in Coshocton to Gerald Lee and Janet (Sturtz) Haines. He was a 1990 graduate of River View High School, and an American FFA degree recipient.
Rick was a 30-year employee of The Frontier Power Company, a job that he took great pride in. When he wasn’t busy delivering propane and repairing power lines, you would find Rick working equally as hard on his beloved family farm, the homestead where he lived his entire life. Rick poured his life into his farm, teaching his family, especially his son and grandson the way of life on the farm.
He didn’t know a stranger, and is easily considered one of the most selfless and kind men that a person could ever know.
Rick served as an advisor for 4-H “Future Leaders” for 12 years, and he was a member of the Coshocton Co. Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his mother, Janet Haines Aronhalt; his wife of 32 years, Billie Jo (Appleton) Haines, whom he married Sept. 21, 1991; their children, Ashley (Billybob) Murray, Andrew (Natalie) Haines, and Jimmy Stewart who was like a son to him; grandchildren, Aiden Haines, Grayson Murray, and two more precious grandchildren on the way; a sister, Mary (Eric) Hagans; three brothers, Randy (Kim) Haines, Tracy (Beth) Haines, & Scott (Liz) Haines; his nieces and nephews, David, Hunter (Madison), Gage (Macey), and Georgia Haines, and Brie, Bladen, and Brycen Hagans; sister-in-law, Barbara (Mark) Kocher; and many special relatives, including Sallie (Rusty) Gates, Deanne Haines, and Larry (Crystal) Haines, Jr.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Gerald L. Haines; his step-father, Stacy Aronhalt; his grandparents, Corbin & Bessie Haines, and Arlie & Clara Sturtz; his mother-in-law, Linda Montgomery; and his uncles, Franklin, Clyde, Albert, & Larry Haines.
