Ridgewood celebrates senior night with victory
WEST LAFAYETTE – In girls soccer, the Ridgewood Generals celebrated Senior Night with a 6-1 victory over Morgan. Seniors Mackenzie Bates, Kalynn Bluck, Stormie Curry, Maddy Jones, Anna Powell, Krista Thomason and Taylor Zinkon were honored before the match.
Powell got the Generals on the board with a goal in the 16th minute scoring on a 35 yard direct kick. Bluck made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal six minutes later. Bates tallied her 10th goal of the season with 15:34 remaining in the half. Bluck assisted Curry for her first career goal with 6:24 before halftime.
Three minutes into the second half, weather delayed the match for nearly an hour. When play resumed, Sam Moore scored her first goal of the season with 29:31 to go. Jones rounded out the scoring for Ridgewood with 22:59 to play.
Josi Abner got Morgan on the board with nine minutes remaining in the match.
Moore and Alexis Zimmerman split time in goal for Ridgewood with Moore making one save while Zimmerman gathered two.
Ridgewood held a 20 to three advantage in shots.
The Generals also set a new school record for wins in a season with nine victories. Ridgewood is 9-2-2.
“Our seniors have been a huge part of our success the past four seasons,” said fourth year head coach, Casey Claxon. “They’re great leaders and teammates to our underclassmen.”
The Generals are off until Tuesday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Columbus Beechcroft.
