Ridgewood FFA makes apple butter
During the week of Oct. 14-18, members of Ridgewood FFA spent their time during ag classes making apple butter in preparation for the Roscoe Village Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival.
The process of making the homemade apple butter is a long process, where much help is needed. To start off, members had to peel about 60 bushels of apples from Clark’s Orchard. After, the apples were blended so that they could be cooked into the apple butter. Each kettle of apple butter had to cook for about six hours while being stirred the whole time. Ridgewood FFA offered different types of apple butter.
The Apple Butter Festival was held Oct. 18-20 at the Apple Butter Festival. Ridgewood FFA sold approximately 800 jars and completely sold out of homemade apple butter.
