Ridgewood groups plan performances
Ridgewood Performing Arts’ Choir and Drama departments will present several end of the year musical events that are free and open to the public.
The Ridgewood choirs grades seven to 12 will combine for their annual Pops Concert on Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. The choirs will present a wide variety of popular music, ranging from John Denver to Neil Diamond to Queen to Miley Cyrus. There are about 100 students involved in the concert. The concert is free and there are no tickets or reserved seats and doors open at 6 p.m.
The choirs will also perform at the Pomerene Arts Center’s Dogwood Festival on Thursday, May 9 at noon. The next week on Tuesday, May 14, the drama students will present an Evening of Musical Theater beginning at 7 p.m. A freewill donation will be taken at the door to support the performing arts students. There are no tickets or reserved seats, and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
The drama students will be performing songs from musical theater broadway shows including “Waitress,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Mamma Mia,” and many more. Finally, the choir department will be performing a pop a cappella extravaganza concert on Wednesday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature the a cappella ensembles Syntax Error and the Dynamic Chorale with professional lights and sound. There are no tickets or reserved seats and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The choirs will also perform this concert during the day for the Ridgewood Elementary and Ridgewood Middle School students. A freewill donation will be taken at the door to support the performing arts students.
