Ridgewood golf celebrated Paige Lane, their lone female senior golfer at their home course, River Greens, on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13. The team was preparing for their final home match of the season. Lane said, when asked about the value of having a female golf team, “It is very good. We can compete against other females and we don’t have to compete against the boys. We can compete with teams from other area schools. Dover and many other area schools have a girl’s golf team. This is our third year. The program is growing and we have five girls this year.” Other girls on the team are; Amanda Matchett, Samantha Wilson, Kaitlyn Finton and Kristin Poorman. The team is coached by Craig ReVeil.

Lane said, “I’ve just enjoyed the season in general, teaching the freshmen the etiquette of the game, it’s been a tough year for me because it hasn’t been a winning season but that’s okay, the team will be pretty good by their senior year so I’m okay with that.”

Lane also said that a personal highlight for her this year was earning first team honors in the Tri-County pre-season tournament.

Lane plans to continue her golf career next fall at Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania where she will be studying biology. Lane added that Coach Craig ReVeal is “’awesome.”
