Ridgewood soccer defeats Licking Valley
HANOVER – In girls soccer, Ridgewood overcame a scoreless first half and notched a 2-0 victory over Licking Valley.
Mackenzie Bates got the Lady Generals on the board with 21:57 remaining in the game.
Kalynn Bluck sent a through ball for Bates as Licking Valley keeper Taylor Evans came off her line to challenge. Bates won the battle for the ball and put it in the net for a 1-0 Ridgewood lead.
Ridgewood held a 12-2 advantage in shots. Sam Moore made two saves for the Lady Generals.
Moore and defenders Maddy Jones, Stormie Curry, Hollie Schwab, and Winter Preston notched their fifth shutout of the season.
The match remained close for the rest of the half.
Kalynn Bluck tallied the final goal with 0:05 seconds remaining.
Ridgewood improved to 6-2-2 while Licking Valley fell to 2-5-2.
Ridgewood travels to Edison on Saturday.
