Ridgewood High School senior Braden Maleski signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

He was a two-year letterman in basketball for Ridgewood. He earned East District Special Mention honors his senior year and District 5 Honorable Mention as a junior. He was also the leading three-point shooter during his senior year, making 39 shots from behind the three point line and making seven in one game. He lettered for two years for Ridgewood in football and is a one-year letter winner in baseball.

Maleski came to Ridgewood from Cambridge his sophomore year. “I came to a school that had a lot of talented people. I started my junior year on JV, then half way through moved up to varsity being the sixth man off the bench and it’s been a great time ever since,” he said. “I plan to attend Kent State Tuscarawas and continue my basketball career and study sports administration. I’m looking forward to the next step in life.”

“I am very proud of what Braden has accomplished,” said dad, Mike Maleski. “He’s always had a dream to play in college and he never gave up on the dream. I am proud of him for perusing that.”

“I am very proud of all of his accomplishments throughout his career, and I am very excited to continue watching him play on the college level,” said mom, Heidi Maleski.

Ridgewood head basketball coach Troy Dolick said, “I’ve had Braden for the last three years. Thankfully he came to us from Cambridge. We heard really good things about him from Cambridge. Braden has come a long way and had a phenomenal year during his junior year in the second half. He had some very big games for us including the Indian Valley game this year. I’m really looking forward to watching him at the next level. We’re looking to see great things from Braden.”

Coach Rich Tharp head basketball coach at Kent State Tuscarawas said, “I am very pleased and blessed to have Braden come aboard. We’re coming off of a national tournament run and we believe he can be a big part of our success next year. He’s shown us some very promising things coming into our open gyms and our workouts and were excited. He is going to be a great addition.”
