River View swimming qualifies 10 swimmers for district meet
The River View swim teams traveled to Steubenville High School on February 11, 2023 to compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Central/Southeast Sectional Tournament Meet. Overall, the boys placed fourth out of 21 schools while qualifying six simmers for the District Meet, and the girls finished seventh out of 23, advancing four swimmers.
District qualifiers and medalists for the Black Bears include the second place 200 freestyle relay of Colin Addy, Carter Knicely, Jesse Shoemaker, and Jonathon Vu (1:36.73), Addy, second in the 50 free (23.20), and fourth in the 100 free (52.86). Jamison Adams, third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.28), and 10th in the 100 free (58.13). Jonathon Vu, fifth in the 50 free (23.96), and sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:01.33). The fourth place boys 400 free relay of Knicely, Gage Wright, Adams, and Shoemaker (3:56.71). Ally Fischer, fifth in both the 200 free (2:21.61) and the 100 fly (1:12.70). The fifth place boys medley relay of Knicely, Adams, Vu, and Addy (1:58.24). The sixth place girls 200 free relay (2:00.81) and the 400 free relay (4:32.77) of Kam McGinnis, Kynsingten McMasters, Piper Andrews, and Fischer. And Knicely, 11th in the 50 free (25.21).
The Bears had additional scoring from the 7th place girls medley relay of Andrews, McMasters, Ava Lewis, and McGinnis (2:21.18), McMasters, sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.86), Lewis, 11th in the 500 free (7:01.98), and Britany Hammond, 16th in the 100 back (1:24.20).
The District Meet will be held at The Ohio State University on Thursday, February 16.
